Eastpak by KRISVANASSCHE Spring/Summer 2013 Collection

The collaboration of Eastpak with Dior Homme creative director and designer Kris Van Assche is one of their best yet. Clean lines, good colors and also good quality make the collection stand out of the in-line Eastpak product and even makes it compete with more high end luggage brands.

Here we present now the Eastpak by KRISVANASSCHE Spring/Summer 2013 range. The upcoming collection includes backpacks, duffle bags, pouches and more. The color range is definitely summery, yet very much toned down, staying true to the style of Van Assche.

For this collection you still have to wait a little bit, but check out this preview of what is coming to stores now.

Creative Recreation x BAIT ‘Spongebob’ Collection

BAIT and Creative Recreation join forces to fuse classic Creative Recreation styles with the iconic Spongebob universe. The collection features a “Raw and Uncut” concept that interprets the off-stage personalities and lifestyles of Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs.

These type of collaborations can go well, but unfortunately go most of the time very wrong. Making cartoon character sneakers for adults means balancing a thin line of adding just enough of the character, yet not too much, to ensure that the shoes still remain wearable. Thankfully we have the latter case here.

The characters appear on the footbeds, ice outsoles, and the attached rubber keychains, meaning that you need to take a second look to really figure out that it is a Spongebob infused collection. The four styles employ unique materials inspired by its respective character: including jacquard BAIT camo for Spongebob on the Lusco sneaker, dimensional zebra-patterned navy leather and suede for the Patrick Cesario Lo XVI, hairy cheetah print for Squidward’s Cesario XVI, and pinstripe suiting material for Mr. Krabs on the Kaplan V sneaker.

Here comes the coolest feature of the collection. Each pair is housed in a special BAIT Spongebob character box, which features cardboard arm and leg pieces that can be attached to form a 3-D Spongebob. The shoes will be displayed at the POP LIFE Exhibition in Beijing on August 17, 2012.

The sneakers are now available online at www. cr8rec.com.

DDMWorks TwinCharged 700-HP Ariel Atom

Ddmworks-twincharged-700-hp-ariel-atom-0

The Ariel Motor Company in England created their Atom series of high performance sports cars to be fast and equally powerful, but 700 horsepower-powerful? Unlikely as it may seem, the sports car modification experts at DDMWorks in South Carolina managed to nearly triple the horsepower of the stock Atom with this TwinCharged 700-HP mod. The ‘TwinCharged’ moniker comes from the turbocharger and supercharger powering the Ecotec 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. In addition to the engine, the Atom’s internals needed significant upgrading to manage all the ridiculous power output, including a custom air-to-water heat exchange, ceramic-coated pistons, H-beam Carrillo rods and ARP hardwear throughout the build. You can read the official press release and the rest of this build’s specs here at Autoblog.
