The Android phone previously known as Optimus LTE2 is nearly all set for its worldwide appearance. In direct competition with Samsung’s Galaxy S III, LG‘s rebranded Optimus G — codenamed “the G” — has announced its hometown debut in Korea in September, to be followed up shortly by a global launch. The Android 4.0 smartphone will run a quad-core Snapdragon S4 APQ8064 chipset in addition to 2GB RAM. It boasts a 4.7 inch True HD 1280 x 768 IPS LCD capacitive touch screen, packs an impressive 13 MP camera and uses an Adreno 320 GPU, which LG claims improves graphic performance. It is also very thin–measuring 8.45mm– which purportedly reduces the air gap between display and surface and the size of the bezel. More practically, it promises to be waterproof and adds a new battery which will run 60 percent more efficiently than “other similarly-sized batteries.”
