A Look at Monster’s Inspiration Headphones

Following up to their lucrative partnership with Beats to manufacture Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, Monster is releasing a new option with its Inspiration model in hopes of exploring new ground in high-fashion and high-performance audio. Inspiration is Monster’s first over-ear, noise-canceling headphones that offers interchangeable headbands in a variety of colors and materials. Suitable for frequent travellers and “everyone who wants a more powerful, deeper connection to their music,” the foldable headphones provide a reasonable amount of passive noise reduction thanks to a battery-powered module.

Designed for both home and mobile use, one immediately notices the comfortable and stylish rectangular ear cups that appear to be a hybrid version of circumaural (around-the-ear) and supra-aural (on-the-ear) headphones. The clean design is visually pleasing, and feels great both in the hand and over the ears as well. The removable, replaceable headband comes in a variety of colors and materials that can be adapted to the user’s personal style, mood or a special occasion. The package further contains three 3,5mm interchangeable cables for Apple products, and Android. A remote control built into the headphone cable lets you conveniently answer and end calls, pause, play, or skip through your songs. In addition, the buyer receives a protective travel case, a cleaning cloth to keep your audio experience fresh and clean, as well as two AAA batteries.

Unlike Beats which focused on bass-heavy music, such as hip-hop, Inspiration offers more balanced and accurate sound for users that listen to diverse styles and genres of music. The noise-canceling technology actively reduces external noise, so the musical experience is not affected by “outside” influences. There’s no distortion on deep bass tracks nor bright highs. Although the Inspiration provides more power, and far deeper lows, there seems to be a cut between low-mids and high-mids at high frequencies. Conclusively, the comfort earcups actively seal in music and seal out noise, which is especially beneficial in noisy locations, which assures a multi-sensual music experience.
